Sammy came one month after my Old English Sheepdog bitch Lilly (2000-2010), who died of cancer to us.
Some people shudder at this thought. I would like to talk about it shortly. Anyone who lives with dogs for many years will understand that, even though this time I picked up a small puppy, but was too close myself. I had not processed the grief yet. Not until today, because Lilly accompanied me at least through a private turbulent life. With her I found peace and stability, she was my soul dog.
Now back to our little new arrival, which was also a great wish of my former partner and today's man.
He never had a dog before.
So it came that exactly one advertisement and the pictures of the offered puppies in the newspaper convinced him. Him, I say here stressed, because I first went on Internet research to learn more about the breed "Australian Shepherd".
Of course we visited a breeder of this breed in the vicinity and yes she also had puppies at that time.
And no, I could not make friends with the idea of opening my heart to such a small creature, even if a little girl from below looked at me so kindly, sitting next to me, and it almost looked like she was telling me: .
"please take me with you".
With tears in our eyes and without puppies, we drove home again. No, by no means a girl at this time.
The days after that, I had time to do more research on this breed.
At some point, my husband said that we want to look at the weekend again in the direction of Bielefeld puppies. No sooner said than done, even though I still did not want to have a puppy, because the pain for the loss of my Lilly was too strong.
But everything came a lot different than intended. Six little 9-week-old black / tri whizzed around in the yard. The parent animals totally adorable and balanced.
So our Sammy went to his new home.
A touching confident sweet little guy with all sorts of jokes in the head.
But just as, full of life, should be a healthy puppy!
The possibilities to tackle a wide variety of sports activities with an Australian Shepherd, and its strong and distinctive
"Will to please", have convinced us in terms of race decision. Although we are no longer the youngest, but very sporty. For me, who led Bobtails many years before, it was a change in the beginning. These pretty leisurely bobtails, even if they are like the shepherd dogs like Australian Shepherd, were quite hard to get excited about doing sports. With Sammy and his qualities, I was able to make friends quickly, because they are more in line with my nature.
